Carnival Elation Welcomes JAXPORT’S 2 Millionth Passenger
North Carolina resident and first-time cruiser Carina Alejandro became the two millionth passenger to sail from the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal when she arrived for her four-day cruise aboard the Carnival Elation yesterday.
Officials from JAXPORT and Carnival Elation Captain Gaetano Gigliotti were on hand to present Alejandro with a number of gifts, including a commemorative plaque.
During her Carnival Elation cruise to the Bahamas, Alejandro, her young son and fiancé are receiving VIP treatment with a number of on-board courtesies. The cruise is also serving as a special occasion as her boss is getting married on board.
Carnival Cruise Line launched the first year-round cruise program from Jacksonville in 2004 and continues to be the only cruise operator sailing year-round from the port.
The 2,052-passenger Carnival Elation offers four-day cruises to Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas and five-day voyages to Nassau and the private Bahamian island of Half Moon Cay. Carnival Elation carries 170,000 passengers annually from Jacksonville.
