Proving that Carnival employees will do just about anything for a good cause, members of the Carnival East Coast sales team, as well as local travel agent and port partners, were among the thousands of individuals who braved the icy waters of Chesapeake Bay as part of the annual Polar Bear Plunge benefiting Maryland Special Olympics.

Participants ventured into the chilly waters at different intervals over the course of 24 hours, raising thousands of dollars for Special Olympics’ athletic programs for special needs children.

This marked the 11th year that Carnival Cruise Line has sponsored the event, which collects donations from individuals, groups and organizations pledging to “take the plunge.” Team Carnival’s contribution totaled more than $41,000.
