Building upon its position as the leader in Gulf Coast cruising, Carnival Cruise Line has announced it will expand capacity on its short cruise offerings from Galveston and New Orleans beginning in 2019.
Carnival Dream will launch four- and five-day cruises to Mexico year-round from Galveston beginning in May 2019, becoming the newest and largest Carnival ship to operate a short cruise program from that port and providing Texans with an exciting and convenient new vacation option.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (March 3, 2011) — For the first time since 2007, a Princess Cruises ship will again set sail from the port of Galveston, offering cruises to the sunny Western Caribbean. Crown Princess will offer 19 departures from Galveston between December 22, 2012 and April 27, 2013. The cruise ship Carnival Liberty, which is homeported in Galveston, Texas, is experiencing a technical issue which is affecting the ship’s maximum cruising speed. The issue is only affecting the ship’s speed and all other systems are operating normally. The ship is capable of operating cruises at reduced maximum speeds while Carnival’s technical team, together with outside experts, continues to work to fully resolve the problem.

To celebrate Carnival Breeze’s arrival at the Port of Galveston, Carnival Cruise Line, Texas’ largest cruise operator, and the NFL’s Houston Texans yesterday hosted “Moms Dash to the Splash,” an on-board event featuring Houston Texans players DeAndre Hopkins and Brian Cushing competing with local moms in a water slide race for charity.
The event — which also included a traditional maritime plaque exchange between Carnival Breeze Captain Vincenzo Alcaras and Port of Galveston’s Director Mike Mierzwa – officially kicked off the recently announced partnership between Carnival and the popular NFL franchise.
